The 2020  Assessment Institute Conference , hosted by Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) and held virtually this year due to the ongoing pandemic. CourseNetworking and the IUPUI CyberLab is both Plantium Sponsors this year and will discuss a variety of topics.

Topics:

Make Virtual Exchange and Online Global Learning Happen with Innovative Learning Technology: While the pandemic restricts international travel and face-to-face cultural exchanges, IUPUI has utilized innovative learning technology to offer students worldwide courses, a system and solution developed at the IUPUI CyberLab commercialized through CourseNetworking. Dr. Ian McIntosh, Director of International Partnerships at IUPUI, will present an example of a virtual study abroad program that he is conducting this Fall. Forty-five students from the IUPUI Honors College and Business students from the University of Rwanda in central Africa have been brought together, one on one and collectively, to learn about each other's culture, history, and politics, and also meeting the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in very different settings. Dr. McIntosh will demonstrate his course design architecture's unique features, such as social posting, ePortfolio, incentive badges, and certification, that made the virtual exchange experience possible. He will also talk about the various challenges he and his Rwandan colleagues have faced. Attendees of this presentation will leave the session much more confident about adding global learning and virtual exchange to their online teaching.
